Conservation Equipment Rental Program |

Suwannee River RC&D has an variety of pieces of agricultural equipment that are rented out on a regular basis. This list includes (6) No-till Drills, (2) Pasture Aerators, Approximately 5,000 acres are treated each year utilizing these pieces of equipment, by over 100 users. The public response to this program has been very positive.

The Suwannee River RC&D conducts Field Days for educational institutions as well as many other organizations. These events include:

- Demonstration Site Field Days
- Fall Forage Field Days
- Small Farm Demonstration Day’s

Project Description:
 Cedar Key, Florida has become a hub of farm raised clams and now is the #1 producer of clams in the US with over 200 farms producing in excess of $10 million in sales annually. Clams are produced in mesh bags and staked to the bottom of submerged lands in the Gulf of Mexico. During the period of 2004-2005 hurricanes devastated the clam farming business as sediment covered the submerged bags and suffocated the growing clams. |

The Mobile Irrigation Lab |

The Mobile Irrigation Lab (MIL) was established in January of 1999. The goals of this project are, to promote Water and Energy Conservation by improving irrigation system efficiency; To promote Water Quality Improvement by minimizing nutrient leaching from the root zone and keeping nutrients available for crop uptake; To promote Sustainable Agriculture by reducing production costs, such as fuel and fertilizer expense, while potentially increasing crop yields.
